USUAL SERVICE TIMES

SUNDAY : Mass 10 a.m. (also 8.45 on 2nd & 4th Sundays)

Mass is according to the Book of Common Prayer and English Missal, with lessons according to the 3-year lectionary and read from the Authorized Version, hymns from the New English Hymnal and plainsong propers from the English Gradual. The usual setting for the Mass at present is Martin Shaw’s Folk Mass. Gospel and Creed are always sung. In Lent the penitential rite is the BCP Litany; at other times the Asperges or the BCP confession. Out of Lent a Russian litany is usually sung after the Creed. Angelus or Salve are sung after the service.

Average number of communicants at 10 a.m. was 55-65 but has recently declined to 45-50

Her Majesty the QUEEN is prayed for by name at every service in this church.

Daily Office: Mattins at various times, Evensong normally at 5.30.

The church is normally open during daylight.  

SUNDAY SCHOOL

The Sunday School meets at the Vicarage at 10 a.m. and joins the congregation in church during the Communion.

CONFESSIONS

Confessions usually heard on Friday at 5.45 or at any  other time by any of the clergy on request. Before main festivals special times may be  posted.

BAPTISM

Usually at the beginning of Sunday Mass. Best of all at the Easter Vigil.

CONFIRMATION

Please tell one of the clergy if you wish to be confirmed or if you have any children to be confirmed. If confirmation has to be delayed for any reason, Church members of any age who are ready and desirous to be confirmed may be admitted to communion, in accordance with the Prayer Book.

SINGING

Would you like to help with the singing? If so we should like to hear from you. Practice is on Thursdays at 6.30.

BELLS

There is an outstanding ring of eight bells. Practice is on Tuesday at 7.30. Visiting ringers and new recruits are warmly welcomed.
